A search Engine spider then crawls the net to find indexed keywords relevant to that search and shows Jane 266 000 results in 0,54 seconds. Techterms define a spider as: "... a software program that travels the Web (hence the name "spider"), locating and indexing websites for search engines. All the major search engines, such as Google and Yahoo!, use spiders to build and update their indexes".

If your keywords are relevant, on-site and off-site links are active and your site indexed with Google your business has a pretty good chance of being in the first unsponsored listings. Research shows that 70% of viewers look at the organic/natural positions (the blue block shown below) on that first page before they will consider sponsored listings.

 

 

Take note though: SEO is not free, it simply requires no additional funding towards the search Engine. You will need a qualified person to implement the right content, keywords and strategy.

You have to look at conversion rates to make an educated decision". A conversion would be the online goal you have set for your business - achieved. Make sure that what you say, will speak to the right audience and get you leads.

CONTENT:

Content writing and seo implementation that is trackable. Your website should start with words before design. By now you should have a strategy and a reasonably good idea of estimates, current search volumes and demographics. Apply Search Engine Analytics to each page you are targeting (make it trackable) - that way you can see how the viewership is doing. Remember: Content change does not take long, don't hang onto a page not giving you return. Try, review...then try again. Check every two weeks on new sites/campaigns although organic traffic often takes a bit longer to reach maximum potential.

LINK BUILDING:

Link Building on-site (on your site) and off-site (from other web sites). Make sure you have active links, no error pages and links leading nowhere. Then try to get other sites to talk about you. If you are a small business or one man band like me - don't dispair. Use Social Media sites and Online directories to create links back to your site.

 

A Handy Tip:

If you are in a competitive field (much searched for product) - boost your ranking by investing in adwords (sponsored listings) similtaneously while your natural rankings grow and become stronger. That way you get an aditional 30% exposure you can count on. Make sure you get analytics on both organic and paid for traffic.
